Nine of 10 Women Online Seek Health Information via Web
The internet is the top online source for healthcare information, and women more than men, as a recent Burst Media survey found, seek health information online:
- 90.1% of women age 25-34 search for health information online
- Women more than men go online for health info - 83.5% vs. 72.4%
- More than three-quarters of those 65 years and older say they go online for health information
- 43.5% of respondents use the internet after a medical visit to research topics discussed during the visit
Health Video, the top resource for 50% of ehealth users
A survey conducted from Google and OTX, “Consumer Health Study”, found that nearly 50% of internet consumers use online health videos as a top resource when searching for medical conditions and prescription drug info.
7 in 10 health consumers are interested in watching health-related video online, specifically educational videos related to specific conditions (54%) and those featuring experts such as doctors (49%).
Branded Websites are the most effective on-line marketing tactic for pharmaceutical marketers
A study conducted from Comscore Inc, in conjuction with pharmaceutical marketing consultancy Evolution Road “e-Marketing effectiveness Benchmarks for the Pharmaceutical Industry“ found that getting a patient visit a branded website is the most effective form of online pharmaceutical marketing, with an incremental patient adherence rate nearly 20 percentage points higher then the control.
It is essential for pharma marketers to develop integrated campaign to raise awareness and drive visits to the site.
